Google has an “SEO Starter Guide”

Good news for everyone – Google has a spec sheet with suggestions on best search engine optimization practices.

Google makes clear that SEO is the job of the website designer, not an “SEO Expert”. Websites should be built from the ground up with search engines in mind rather than compartmentalized.

Some interesting pointers from this document:

• Do not rely on drop-down menus for navigation
• Pay mind to directory structure when first making website
• Create a “human” sitemap
